Wawa, an American chain of convenience stores and gas stations, is adding its first location in Palm Coast, according to Palm Coast Communications and Marketing Manager Cindi Lane.

Wawa, which has nearby locations in Daytona Beach and Port Orange, is projected to open its Palm Coast store, to be located at 5600 State Highway 100, in mid-July to early August in 2019. Wawa got its development order approval on Sept. 5, and its site development permit was issued on Sept. 14.

Wawa has yet to apply for a building permit.

Island Walk achieves milestone with latest tenant

The Island Walk shopping center is now 100% leased, representing a major milestone in a four-year effort to resurrect a once-blighted shopping center in the heart of Palm Coast.

Branch Properties, LLC, the Atlanta-based developer of the 204,000-square-foot shopping center, recently executed a long-term lease with a national healthcare clinic, PT Solutions, which brought the center to full occupancy.

“We’re delighted to announce that the revitalization of Island Walk is now fully realized. We’re grateful to the center’s retailers, restaurants and other businesses, as well as the Palm Coast community for their tremendous support during the past few years,” said Brett Horowitz, Branch Properties' vice president of asset management, in a release.

Branch Properties purchased the 28.7-acre property in May 2014 and invested millions of dollars to renovate the Palm Harbor Shopping Center. The developer rebranded the center as Island Walk when construction was completed in 2015. The center was about 33% pre-leased at the time.
