If you’re going to take an art class or a yoga class, the city of Palm Coast hopes you'll stay local.

The Palm Coast Parks & Recreation Department is hoping to expand its offering of classes and is looking for people who have talent and expertise and would like to become instructors.

If you are proficient in art, drama/theater or have a knack for teaching yoga, pottery, cooking, fitness or any other unique talent, contact Parks & Recreation at 386-986-2323 or log on to www.palmcoastgov.com and follow links to the Parks & Recreation Department. There, you will find a class proposal that can be submitted to the department for review.

Candace DeMarco, recreaction supervisor, said the city currently offers one class regularly: women’s self defense.

“We want to offer things in the community so that people stay in Palm Coast,” DeMarco said. In that way, she said, expanded recreation programs are in line with the city’s Prosperity 2021 economic development goals.

“We want to keep them here, and find something for their families to do, and for the seniors to do, so they can keep healthy active,” she added.
