Palm Coast resident Jeffery Coffman, 59, killed in motorcycle crash on U.S. 1

The motorcycle overturned after Coffman missed the road's curve south of Belle Terre Boulevard and drove onto the shoulder.

Palm Coast resident Jeffery Coffman, 59, was killed the night of March 11 in a motorcycle crash on U.S. 1.

Coffman was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on U.S. 1 south of Belle Terre Boulevard in the right lane at about 9:30 p.m. when he failed to negotiate the road's curve to the left and drove off onto the western dirt shoulder,  according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The motorcycle overturned a number of times, throwing Coffman from the vehicle, according to the report. He was not wearing a helmet.

Coffman died at the scene of the crash.
