Palm Coast resident James McIntire, 71, pled guilty on Jan. 6 to charges of molesting a 15-year-old girl. He has been sentenced to two years in state prison, followed by 10 years of sex offender probation.

McIntire will also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The victim told deputies that McIntire had touched her inappropriately or kissed her on the mouth at least 13 times between June and November of 2019, and that he had also offered her alcoholic beverages. She had documented the incidents in a diary.

McIntire admitted to the incidents during questioning on Dec. 16, 2020. He was arrested on Jan. 13, 2021, for Lewd and Lascivious Molestation and booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

He was released after posting $50,000 bond until his Jan. 6, 2022, sentencing hearing.

“I’m very proud of our investigative team for building this case and getting this sick individual off the streets before he could hurt anyone else,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Anyone who preys on children belongs in prison, and I hope this sentence brings some closure to his victim and her family and a warning to other child predators. I want to thank our Major Case Unit for their dedication in gathering the evidence to make this conviction possible. Our warning to sex offenders is that if you prey on a child, we will get you and help put you in prison where you belong."
