As mothers of teenage girls, Irina Davidenko and Mila Loguntsova have their hands full parenting, working as realtors and being active in the Russian American Eastern European Chamber of Commerce in Flagler County. Now, the two are also vying for the Mrs. Florida America crown.

Davidenko was crowned Mrs. Flagler County, and Loguntsova earned the title of Mrs. Palm Coast toward the end of March. Each have platforms that focus on local teens — keeping them engaged and out of trouble.

“I was thinking a lot about teenagers since I have teenage girls, and I was thinking that we have many programs for kids. We have many programs for elder people, but I haven’t seen many of them for just teenagers,” Loguntsova said.

Davidenko describes her platform as one that supports good education for creative arts, as well as education against youth getting into trouble due to a lack of activities in the arts. She said her 17-year-old daughter has struggled for years trying to find vocal coaches and creative outlets in Flagler County.

“I face these difficulties because a bunch of schools offer sports. It was impossible to find something for her here,” Davidenko said about her daughter. “So, my parents had to move to Jacksonville for her to attend the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. … My platform is for education for talented kids and education against bad habits.”

Both hope their roles as Mrs. Flagler County and Mrs. Palm Coast will help them create more artistic opportunities for teenagers locally over the next year.

“I see so many different cultures that can get together,” Loguntsova said. “Every culture has so much they can share with others. My idea is to create something where teenagers can learn different cultures, and they can get together and better understand.”

Davidenko and Loguntsova will compete in the 2018 Mrs. Florida America Pageant on Saturday, April 28, in Orlando. Visit mrsflamerica.com for details. Contact the contestants at [email protected] and [email protected] for sponsorship information.
