Palm Coast resident Casey Scott Haworth has pleaded no contest to charges he helped attack a woman with a stun gun and steal her purse and cell phone during a robbery in St. Augustine last year.

Another defendant in the case, Dameon Keon James, was found guilty in August and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The victim was standing at an intersection on Aug. 25 last year, according to information provided by the State Attorney’s Office, when James pulled up next to her and asked for directions.

While she was distracted, Haworth, 32, ran up behind her and attacked her with a stun gun. She ran away screaming, dropping her purse and cell phone, and Haworth grabbed them and jumped into the car with James.

The two sped off, but the woman ran to a nearby police officer, who followed the fleeing car. James bailed on his partner, leaving the vehicle to flee on foot, and Haworth was arrested. James was caught later after police searched Haworth’s phone records.

Haworth is charged with robbery with a weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, attempt to kidnap to inflict bodily harm and possession of an electronic weapon by a convicted felon.
