A 29-year-old Palm Coast man lay down on Interstate 95 last night, causing a two-car traffic crash that ended with his death.

The reason Patrick Neal Amaral was lying in the center lane of the highway is still currently unknown, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He was struck by a 2005 Honda Civic, driven by 26-year-old Christopher M. Warrington, of Palm Coast.

The collision forced Warrington’s car into the path of a 2008 Toyota XB, driven by Misha A. Wiseman, of Green Cove Springs. The Toyota also struck the pedestrian.

Both cars came to a controlled stop in the median. The Civic has an estimated $1,500 worth of damages. The Toyota has an estimated $500 worth of damage.

Neither driver was injured.

Alcohol tests are still pending on Amaral.
