A Palm Coast man was recently indicted for federal firearm and drug violations, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Jerard Keaton Davis, 33, of Palm Coast, was charged with possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and possessing crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years — and up to life — in a federal prison.
Law enforcement officers, while executing a search warrant, found Davis in possession of a .380-caliber pistol and crack cocaine. Davis had multiple prior felony drug convictions at the time.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Mesrobian.
This case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program that has been successful in bringing together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime. In October 2017, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the reinvigoration of PSN and directed all U.S. Attorneys’ Offices to develop districtwide crime reduction strategies.
"This was a good, collaborative effort between the Sheriff’s Office and our federal partners to take a violent felon and poison peddler off the streets of Flagler County," Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release. "I hope [Davis] goes away for a very long time.”
