A Palm Coast man is in critical condition after crashing his antique Chevrolet into the tree line along A1A, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Tony Hugueley, 64, was traveling southbound on A1A around 12:17 p.m. Sunday, when he veered into the northbound lane in his 1956 two-door antique.

Hugueley then exited the roadway onto the east shoulder, the report states. He passed over the sidewalk and entered the tree line east of A1A.

The right corner of Hugueley’s front bumper hit a tree, which brought the car to a final rest facing southeast.

There were no signs on the roadway that showed Hugueley attempted to brake.

The road near the Hammock Dunes toll bridge was closed for about 1.5 hours because of the accident.

He was not wearing a seatbelt and an alcohol test is pending, according to troopers.
