Joshua Mark Hopkins, 29, had a defective door latch on his Chevy. But that was only the beginning of his troubles.
According to a report from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkins, of the R-section in Palm Coast, was driving a Chevy at 3:25 a.m. Oct. 8, on Rymfire drive. Because of a faulty door latch and driving too fast, he was ejected from his car as he went around a turn.
His Chevy then crashed into two cars, a parked Lexus and a parked Volvo. The deputy who responded observed that the Chevy was lying on its right side in a driveway.
The deputy noted that “an odor of an alcoholic beverage being emitted from (Hopkins’) facial area.” The deputy performed field sobriety tests. Hopkins touched his nose with his finger on his fifth try.
Hopkins refused multiple requests for a blood test and medical treatment, although “he had road rash, his right arm was bandaged,” according to the report.
Hopkins was transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility on three misdemeanor charges: driving under the influence and two counts of DUI property damage.
