Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 29-year-old Palm Coast man Friday for shooting into an occupied dwelling, domestic violence battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an argument with his wife.

Christopher Avellar, of Riding Place, was arrested at his father’s home at Waywood Place around 10:15 p.m. after witnesses reported a gun being fired in the area.

Deputies said Avellar and his wife began arguing earlier in the evening. His wife left and went to her in-laws at Waywood Place.

About 10 p.m., Avellar showed up at his father’s home and began to violently bang on the front door. The elder Avellar went outside to talk to his son and they began arguing.

At that point, the two parted company and Christopher Avellar went his vehicle and retrieved a .45 caliber handgun. Witnesses said Avellar walked to the house and pointed the gun, shooting once. The home was occupied by six people at the time of the incident.

Deputies recovered a spent shell inside a cabinet in the garage.

Avellar was arrested at the scene and transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility, where he was charged with six counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, aggravated assault and domestic violence. He is being held without bond in connection with shooting the gun.
