A man was arrested on Monday morning on a charge of burglarizing. According to Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Andrew David Gross, who lives on Red Barn Drive, threw a cinderblock through his evacuated neighbor's sliding glass door, gained entry to the home and stole jewelry and other miscellaneous items.

“This is not the way we look out for our neighbors,” Sheriff Staly said in the release. “The entire state is dealing with the effects of Hurricane Irma. This is a time to come together as a community and help each other. Now we have one more dirtbag in the Green Roof Inn (the county jail), just as I promised.”

Staly was referring to a statement he made on Friday, Sept. 8 during a hurricane update: “Any dirtbag looking to take advantage of people during this storm will be arrested and taken to the Green Roof Inn, also known as my jail.”

Gross was booked into the Flagler County Detention Facility on charges of burglary and grand theft. His bond is set at $5,000.
