Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies have charged a Palm Coast man with burglary following the report of a suspicious vehicle parked in an empty lot on Renshaw Drive shortly before 9 a.m today.
Deputies who responded to investigate reported the vehicle drove off as patrol cars approached, leaving one man behind. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the car overturned on Royal Palm Parkway when the driver made a tight turn off Rymfire Drive.
The driver, who is not being identified at this time, was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler, where he was being treated for injuries sustained in the accident.
Rymfire Elementary School was briefly locked down as deputies attempted to stop the fleeing suspect vehicle.
The man left behind has been identified as Jeremiah Harris, 20, of Raintree Drive. After questioning by detectives, Harris is being charged with burglary and loitering and prowling.
Deputies reported it appeared Harris and the other subject were out of the vehicle while they were attempting to break into a residence at 33 Renshaw Drive. The attempt failed, and the injured subject fled in the vehicle, leaving Harris at the scene.
He was picked up as he walked along Renshaw Drive. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
