The victim said Brandin Deoliveira told her that he'd kill her family if she told anyone.
Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested 27-year-old Palm Coast resident Brandin Deoliveira on charges that he had sex with a girl when she was 16 and 17 years old, from October to December 2018.
The victim contacted the Flagler County Sheriff's Office after Deoliveira told her that he would kill her family if she told anyone about their sexual encounters — at one point showing her, and having her hold, his handgun, according to an FCSO charging affidavit.
The girl told investigators that Deoliveira had taken her to the Mainland and Mala Compra beach approaches and engaged in sexual activity with her there multiple times, and that he "became increasingly more aggressive with her and at one point slapped her in the face and choked her to the point that she could not breathe," according to the charging affidavit.
Investigators checked cell phone records and found that there were more than 600 text messages between Deoliveira and the victim in November 2018, as well as more than 20 phone conversations. The victim stated that the conversations were explicit and that Deoliveira had sent her photographs and video of his genitals.
Deputies also found a handgun in Deoliveira's possession matching the victim's description of the one he'd showed her. Investigators are still collecting evidence and executing search warrants, according to the charging affidavit.
“I commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in an FCSO news release. “This guy took advantage of a child and thought he could scare her into hiding the truth. ... There is no room in our community for anyone who wants to take advantage of our children.”
Brandin Deoliveira is charged with five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
