A 21-year-old Palm Coast man was killed early the morning of Saturday, July 18 when his Chevrolet SUV struck a power pole on U.S. 1 near the intersection with County Road 304.

Driver Tyler M. Tracy, a married man and father of a young child, was driving north on U.S. 1 at about 12:49 a.m. when, “for unknown reasons,” the SUV left the roadway and swerved into the inside median and struck the power pole, according to an FHP report.

Tracy was thrown from the SUV, which landed on top of him on its left side. He was not wearing a seatbelt. A passenger in the SUV, 22-year-old Palm Coast resident Michael G. Neves, was wearing his seatbelt and had no injuries, and was not hospitalized, according to the report.

Much of Tracy’s Facebook page is covered with photos of his SUV, which he’d used as his Facebook cover photo and lovingly modified and customized, at one point posting about preparing it for a truck show.

“She so damn sexy,” he wrote in one post. In another, alongside a photo of the SUV, he’d written, “I can't believe I created such a beautiful thing, then again my daughters the cutest little girl ever so I guess it just comes natural.”
