Let there be light ... Florida Agricultural Museum style.

The following was released from the Ag Museum:

The city of Palm Coast is installing solar-powered lights at the northeast corner of the intersection of Old Kings Road North and U.S. 1, in northern part of the city. These lights will help mark and illuminate the very dark intersection. They will also light the Florida Agricultural Museum's monument and sign.

Traditional street lights would have been costly and require the payment of a monthly electric bill. The city's approach to the problem provides safety benefits without the use of electricity. It is also a "green" solution with little or no maintenance costs.

Museum Director Bruce Piatek stated that he was impressed by the city's creative solution to the problem and was appreciative of the help to the Florida Agricultural Museum.

"I often drive to and from the museum at night and know firsthand how dark and sometimes dangerous the intersection can be,” Piatek said. “The city's engineering department found a great answer to this problem."

The thousands of people who attend the museum's annual Halloween program, Florida's Haunted Trails, will appreciate the extra lighting. They and other folks who visit the museum for evening activities will find their travel to and from the museum easier and safer.
