It’s the most wonderful time of the year and now more than ever, many are ready to embrace the cheerful holiday spirit after a challenging year in 2020.
This season, Palm Coast Parks and Recreation is calling on residents to showcase their outdoor decorating skills at their home in a unique competition called Holiday Light Fight. So break out all of the lights, garland, inflatable snowmen, and more to participate in this festive contest.
“As a father, I love to take my kids around to see holiday lights, but sometimes it is hard to find where the big displays are located,” said Recreation Specialist Jared Dawson. “I really wanted to provide not only my kids, but our community with a fun way to enjoy all of the lights displays in town. We can all decorate our houses and then families can use our maps to plan out a night of holiday light sightseeing!”
Parks & Recreation is also working with the city’s Geographic Information System (GIS) division to create a map showing residents where they can go to see all of the light displays. This is coming soon and the city will share that link when it becomes available.

Judging will take place on Dec. 19 and winners will be selected in the following categories: Best in Show, Brightest House, Best Theme and Most Interesting Decorations. Winners will receive lawn signs to mark their yards as major award winners.
Judges will use the following criteria — with scores from 1 being the lowest, to 5 being the highest — to decide winners:
