There's a new Little Miss Florida, and her name is Leila Abdusattarov.

The 9-year-old Palm Coast resident has been participating in pageants for three years. After previously earning the title of 2017 Little Miss Flagler County, she will continue her royal reign as the 2018 Little Miss Florida, which she was crowned on Saturday, July 28, at the Little Miss Florida Spectacular America pageant in Daytona Beach.

"I’m very proud and very happy to be Little Miss Florida," she said. "It took a lot of work and practice to get this title."

Leila is preparing to enter fourth-grade at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Palm Coast. She plans to go to the national competition, Miss Spectacular America, on Sept. 27-29, where she will vie for the title of Little Miss Spectacular America.

"My favorite part about participating in pageants is being able to represent the county and the beauty walk," Leila said.

The three components of the Little Miss Florida Spectacular America pageant were an opening number, fitness wear and evening gown. She said that years of dance competitions and gymnastics has helped her feel confident on stage during pageants.
