The following is adapted from a Palm Coast release:

The Palm Coast City Council invites local organizations to apply for grant monies that will support activities, programs and performances to increase exposure and awareness of cultural arts in Palm Coast.

Programs that educate the public on unique characteristics of a defined cultural group, introduce a distinct traditional event or program or promote the arts and art appreciation through various media may be evaluated.

This year, grant funding will be available for two program levels: new programs in the first or second year of presentation, eligible for $5,000 maximum; or ongoing programs in at least the third year of presentation, eligible for $3,000 maximum.

To qualify, programs/projects must directly benefit the city of Palm Coast and Palm Coast residents, occur within the city limits, support artistic and cultural activities, programs and performances, be open to the public and take place between Oct. 1, 2011, and Sept. 30, 2012. Organizations applying for grants must be nonprofit and hold federal tax-exempt status, be headquartered in Palm Coast and retain a governing body.

Application packets and guidelines for the Palm Coast Cultural Arts Grant Program are available at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway N.E., or on the city’s website at www.palmcoastgov.com in the Parks & Recreation section. The deadline for this year’s application is 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
