The city of Palm Coast has a variety of upcoming events and recreational and sports activities that are open to the public. See a list of activities, including the fall schedule, at www.parksandrec.fun.

Oct. 1, 15, and 29 – Learn the Basics of Your Computer – Tuesdays, Oct. 1, 15, and 29, 10 a.m.-noon at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Want to learn more about your computer? Oct. 1 through 24 – Aqua Zumba® (Fall Session 2 Tues/Thurs) – Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 1-24, 9-10 a.m. at Palm Coast Aquatics Center, 339 Parkview Drive. Aqua Zumba® blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn’t miss! There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba® class, so you can really let loose. Oct. 1 through Nov. 19 – Welcome to Tennis (Fall Session) – Tuesdays, Oct. 1-Nov. 19, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Palm Coast Tennis Center, 1290 Belle Terre Pkwy. New to tennis? Learn the game in a friendly, fast-paced environment! Each week the Tennis Center’s certified professional coaching staff will teach a 60-minute instructional clinic focusing on the fundamentals. Oct. 2 – Our Neck of the Woods – Wednesday, Oct. 2, 10-11 a.m. at Linear Park, 31 Greenway Court, Palm Coast. Discover the treasures hidden throughout Linear Park! Through the use of story time, nature walks, and the occasional critter meet-and-greet, this program will augment your child’s cognitive learning, communication skills, and hand-eye coordination. Oct. 2 through 23 - Cooking is Fun! (Fall Session 2) – Wednesdays, Oct. 2-23, 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Have fun while preparing delicious dishes! Children will be introduced to cooking vocabulary, techniques, tools, utensils, and kitchen safety practices. Oct. 4 through Nov. 15 - Kids in the Kitchen - Fridays, Oct. 4-Nov. 15, 10-10:45 a.m. (6-9 years), 11-11:45 a.m. (10-12 years), 12-12:45 p.m. (13-15 years) at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. Held by Margaret Cruz, Program Assistant for the University of Florida IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program, this hands-on cooking experience teaches youth basic cooking skills, nutrition, and food safety. This hands-on course using Lego WeDo 2.0 construction sets is designed to encourage children to become an active part of the learning process, collaborate to solve problems, and develop critical thinking skills. Oct. 7 through Nov. 20 – Adult Open Gym Volleyball (Fall Session 2) – Mondays and Wednesdays, Oct. 7-Nov. 20, 7-9:30 p.m. at Indian Trails Sports Complex, 5455 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. Bring your friends or meet new ones in this co-ed volleyball program. New “teams” are created weekly. We use two nets, with teams rotating in and out of play. Oct. 8 through Nov. 12 - Toddler Tuesdays - Tuesdays, Oct. 8-Nov. 12, 5-6 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Toddler Tuesdays is an action-packed program that will keep your toddler toddling! Designed for parents to attend after work or for those who just don’t like mornings, this will encourage children to enhance their social skills, motor skills, and creative thinking. Oct. 8 through Nov. 21 – Adult Open Gym Basketball (Fall Session 2) – Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 8-Nov. 21, 7-9:30 p.m. at Indian Trails Sports Complex, 5455 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. Oct. 9 through 30 - Imagination Builders - Wednesdays, Oct. 9-30, 10-11 a.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Using Duplo Blocks, Lincoln Logs, Fiddlesticks and other interactive activities, create an imaginary world with your child! Oct. 11 – Movies in the Park – Friday, Oct. 11, 7:15 p.m. in Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast. Families will enjoy a family friendly movie on the park’s giant outdoor movie screen. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs and snacks and invite your friends and neighbors to join you at this free, monthly family activity offered by Palm Coast Parks & Recreation and Flagler Schools. Oct. 12 – First Aid and CPR/AED – Saturday, Oct. 12, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fire Station 25, 1250 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. This class is a seven-hour course (one hour for lunch) designed to meet OSHA regulations and teach administering CPR to children and adults, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), using a mask or barrier device, assisting with bleeding, broken bones. $50/person. Oct. 12 – Doubles Cornhole Tournament – Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m. start time at Palm Coast Tennis Center, 1290 Belle Terre Pkwy. Cornhole is a widely popular sport, even being featured on ESPN. Oct. 13 – Pink Army 5K and 1 Mile Pet-Friendly Fun Walk sponsored by AdventHealth – Sunday, Oct. 13, 7:45 a.m. start time at AdventHealth 60 Memorial Medical Pkwy. Raising money for breast cancer awareness, education, and screening, 100% of the proceeds raised by the Pink Army 5K go toward financially supporting mammograms, breast ultrasounds, stereotactic breast biopsies, education and other specific diagnostic services to aid in the early detection of breast cancer. Oct. 19 - American Red Cross Babysitting Class - Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Teens, are you looking for a babysitting job? Set yourself apart from the competition by getting certified! This class will prepare and teach teens 11-15 years the fundamentals of babysitting in a 6.5 hour course. Oct. 21 through Nov. 4 – Women’s Self Defense (Fall Session 2) – Mondays, Oct. 21 and 28, Nov. 4, 6-8 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Learn effective methods to ward off attackers in this three-day class. Commander Michael Lutz from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will teach you skills that will make you more aware of your surroundings as well as methods to protect yourself and safety tips to implement right away. Tuesdays – Pinochle – Tuesdays, 12:30-4 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. Derived from the card game bezique, players score points by trick-taking and also by forming combinations of cards into melds. Free but please register at www.parksandrec.fun/seniors. Tuesdays – Beginning Ballet and Tap – Tuesdays, 4:30-5:15 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This class will introduce students to ballet and tap instructions. Through ballet, dancers will learn proper classroom etiquette, practice large and small motor skills, and begin to develop flexibility, strength, body alignment and technique.
