Businesses in Palm Coast have a new friend at city offices.

The city of Palm Coast launched its Business Assistance Center on May 2, cultivating a service that it says will provide timely and accurate information and guidance to businesses. Created as a partnership with Daytona State College and the Small Business Development Center at the University of Central Florida, the Business Center will serve as a liaison between essential resources and will also assist with training, growth, expansion and navigating regulatory requirements for all companies who are looking for help.

The new center will be housed on the first floor at city offices, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite B105.

Services will be implemented by the SBDC and UCF Area Manager Joseph Roy, with support from community partners, the Center for Business Excellence, SCORE Counselors to American’s Businesses, Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates and the Small Business Administration.

Roy brings 30 years of executive management and operational performance experience to his new position. He has served in several capacities in large companies in the U.S.

“Data shows that small companies in Florida comprise 5.2% of all resident business establishments in the state, responsible for creating nearly 30% of the jobs,” said Beau Falgout, senior economic planner for the city. “Imagine how much we can improve our local economy if we help to make our own 3,000 existing small businesses successful.”

Hours for the Business Assistance Center will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For more information, contact Falgout at 986-3796 or Roy at 986-2499.
