A Jacksonville man was killed and two more people were injured early Sunday morning in a crash on Interstate 95 about a mile north of Palm Coast Parkway.

Adam Christian Mathews, 34, was driving his 1999 Porsche northbound on the outside lane at about 3:30 a.m. behind a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 57-year-old South Carolina resident Allison Dawn Swisher, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The car was moving faster than the motorcycle, and the Porsche struck the Harley on its rear left side.

The car and the motorcycle both left the roadway and entered the wood line after the crash.

The driver side of the car struck a tree, and a passenger, Jacksonville resident Gena E. Coursen, 38, was ejected from the car.

The car caught fire with Mathews still inside, and he died at the scene of the crash.

Rescue workers took Coursen to Florida Hospital with critical injuries, and the motorcyclist, Swisher, was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville with minor injuries.
