In Memoriam:

Olivia Annie Davis Braxton
1931-2022

Olivia Annie Davis Braxton, known lovingly as Olivia “Liv” Braxton passed away in Greensboro, North Carolina on July 13, 2022 - shortly after her 91st birthday. She died of natural causes gently in her sleep. Born in Salisbury, North Carolina, and raised in Brooklyn, New York by her mother Virginia - she and her brother, John Couch “JC” called New York home. Olivia and her husband Frank (deceased) retired to Palm Coast, Florida where they had some of the best years of their lives. Olivia was a proud registered nurse. After graduating from Brooklyn College, she worked for the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, the Visiting Nurses Association, the TB Association of Greater New York, and did community eye screenings for Columbia University and Harlem Hospital. After retiring, she was a member of the Motown and Mo’ Musical Review, the Transit Association of New York, and many other clubs. Her proudest achievement was helping found a safe house for women and children over 30 years ago that is still in existence. She loved Palm Coast and became an Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. Always the nurse, Olivia could be found taking “blood pressure” readings after church services. Olivia and Frank had 3 daughters. Francine Braxton of Brooklyn, New York (deceased), Laura Lynch (Fred) of Orlando, Florida, and Toni Edwards of Greensboro, North Carolina. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Fred Lynch, Jr.; Gina Hicks; Franklin Lynch (Courtney), Dana Farmer (Marcus); Adrienne Bryson (Jesse); many great-grandchildren; relatives, and friends. Olivia left clear instructions that she wished to be cremated and placed with her beloved Frank in Rockville Cemetery, Lynbrook, New York. The family will have a private graveside ceremony. Arrangements entrusted to Triad Cremation and Funeral Service of Greensboro, NC.

"I AM FREE"
Don't grieve for me for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I've found that peace at the close of the day
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish the sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, I've savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch
Perhaps my time seemed too brief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wants me now
He set me FREE
