Elizabeth Cabral, the Old Kings Elementary Teacher of the Year, has been an educator for 18 years, including 12 years at OKES.

As a kindergarten teacher, she believes that all her students are “stars,” she said, as each one as their own talent and learning styles that make them special.

“I teach my students to always try their best,” Cabral said. “If they can do that then they will be successful in some form. Every child's success level is different, and I celebrate with them each time they realize that they have learned something new. We not only learn our ABC's and 123's in class, but also how to be good, caring friends to each other.”

Outside of school, she likes to visit zoos and aquariums.

“Of course, I want them to succeed academically, but most of all I want my students to intrinsically realize their personal successes and celebrate them,” she said. “I want my students to know that I care.”
