The City Council hopes to promote the city by launching DiscoverPalmCoast.com.
About a year ago, Palm Coast officials launched a postcard program directed at out-of-town lot owners. This year, the city’s Community Development Department will attempt to lure people to move to town, but in a more environmentally sensitive and technologically savvy way: the Internet.
At the Jan. 31 workshop, Nestor Abreu, community development director for the city, presented the City Council with a new marketing and branding campaign for Palm Coast.
The two big changes are a revamped website, www.DiscoverPalmCoast.com, as well as a mass email blast that will include a link to a video promoting Palm Coast.

The video was done in-house by the city’s technology department, Landon said, which helped save money.
City officials hope the video will go viral.
“We want to encourage neighbors to send it to their relatives,” Abreu said.
The new website will feature information about upcoming events and will highlight the various parks and recreational facilities the city has to offer. It will be linked with Facebook and Twitter.
City Manager Jim Landon said the city’s main website, www.PalmCoastGov.com, will stay online for meeting agendas and other government-related items.
He said the concept behind the “Discover Palm Coast” campaign isn’t just to bring in residents.
“This type of program also helps recruit businesses because if you’re making a decision where you’re going to locate your business, it’s the lifestyle, that image of where you’re moving your business to,” Landon said Tuesday.
Creating a brand for the city also establishes credibility and creates cohesiveness around town. The city’s slogan, “Find your Florida,” will also be used.
Mayor Jon Netts said Tuesday that it’s also important for the city councilmen to be able to tell the public why Palm Coast is doing a recruitment campaign.
“We need to tell the story about why this benefits homeowners here now,” Netts said. “This is all focused on making life better for the people who are already here.”
