Residents and visitors have been enjoying all 18 miles of beach in Flagler County, which is open for exercise and relaxation with a social-distancing requirement. Officials ask only that the barrier island and the beach be treated with respect: Park in designated areas and clean up appropriately before leaving.
“Enjoy a great day at the beach and take home great memories,” said Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney. “Please park in the direction of the flow of traffic – not against it – stay off sidewalks, and don’t block private driveways. Parking is a quality of life issue for residents, so please treat parking on the island like it is your own neighborhood.”
The city of Flagler Beach has free municipal parking lots that are no further than one block away from the beach:
“Please use the same consideration in the unincorporated areas and within the smaller municipalities of Beverly Beach and Marineland,” said Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord. “There is parking at our beachside parks, and staff is working very hard to keep things clean both for visitors’ enjoyment as well as public health and safety.”
