We’ve come to the end of our first full week of school and we continue to see new faces on our campuses. The first few weeks of school are always exciting times while everyone adjusts into their new routines.
As I wrote last week, my first priority is to provide a safe learning environment for every student, teacher, staff member, and administrator. Our Back to School Guide was posted on our website before school began. This has always been a “living document,” and adjustments will be made as conditions change.
We have taken notice of what is going on in our community and have adjusted a few parts of our guide. The following revisions will take effect on Monday, Aug. 23:
The number of positive cases among students and staff has grown much faster this year than last year. We continue to work with our local health department as they conduct contract tracing. We’ve added a flow chart to guide our community through the sometimes complicated quarantine process. You’ll find this and all our supporting documents in the Coronavirus section of our district website, www.flaglerschools.com/covid19.
For students who are quarantined, we have created an instruction guide on how we will keep learning going, which is one of the key components of our Back to School Guide. This document is now part of our Back to School Guide and will be shared with students and families as needed.
Finally, please continue to follow the CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19. Wash your hands regularly, continue making healthy choices, wear a face covering when you can’t maintain a safe distance, and please, stay home if you are sick. We value the importance of having our students in face-to-face learning.
