+ Dalai Lama’s nephew killed by SUV
The Dalai Lama’s nephew was killed along Highway A1A when he was struck by an SUV Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jigme Norbu, 45, of Bloomington, Ind., was walking along the white line in the same direction as traffic, on the southbound side of A1A as part of his “Walk for Tibet,” which was going to cover almost 300 miles from St. Augustine, south to West Palm Beach, according to his group, Ambassadors for World Peace.

The driver of the SUV, 31-year-old Keith O’Dell, of Palm Coast, and his 5-year-old son, were not injured. O’Dell was not charged, according to an Associated Press report.

Norbu was dead when emergency services arrived at the scene, the report stated.

+ County to FWC: Delay manatee zones
The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners is asking the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to postpone a hearing on the proposed manatee protection zones on the Intracoastal Waterway.

The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 23 to Feb. 24, in Apalachicola, but County Administrator Craig Coffey said the residents of Flagler County need more time to digest and process the proposed zones.

“To have it on the other side of the state is beyond me,” Coffey said. “It doesn’t make sense.”
