+ Palm Coast Data increases profits despite lower revenues
AMREP Corp., the New Jersey-based parent company of Palm Coast Data, reported a year-over-year increase in its fiscal 2012 second-quarter profits despite a decline in revenues. The company credits the spike to operating cost reductions.

For the three-month fiscal quarter ending Oct. 31, AMREP generated a net profit of $1,083,000, or 18 cents per share, up from a net profit of $731,000, or 12 cents per share, for the same quarter last year.

Revenues for the fiscal second quarter were $23.35 million, compared with $25.8 million for the same period last year.

The company’s subscription-fulfillment revenues decreased to $16.5 million in the fiscal 2012 second quarter, down from $19.6 million for the same period.

Palm Coast Data employs 900 workers.

+ County hears transportation planning proposals
The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners heard two presentations Monday, Dec. 19, from the Volusia County Transportation Planning Organization and the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization. “This is a case where numbers matter and population matters,” he said, citing population and density limits. “As we grow, we will be under this umbrella. … If we’re proactive, we can shape this a little.”
