+ Flagler County housing board seeks new members
Flagler County is currently seeking residents who either work in the housing industry or are employers to guide the county’s housing programs on an advisory committee.
Formally known as the Housing Task Force Advisory Board, the board oversees the funding provided by the State Housing Initiative Program and other programs related to housing in the county. The board also works in conjunction with programs offered in the city of Palm Coast.
The Housing Task Force meets every second Tuesday of the month, in the Government Services Building.
Qualified individuals can apply online, under Advisory Board Vacancies at www.FlaglerCounty.org, or by contacting Christie Mayer at [email protected]. Call 313-4101.
+ Palm Coast seeks teachers for community classes
In an effort to keep residents from having to travel outside the area for recreation, the Palm Coast Parks and Recreation Department is seeking instructors for art, drama/theater, yoga, pottery, cooking, fitness or any other niche activity. To submit a class proposal, call 986-2323, or log on to www.palmcoastgov.com and follow links to the Parks and Recreation Department.
According to Recreation Supervisor Candace DeMarco, the city currently only offers women’s self defense classes regularly.
“We want to offer things in the community so that people stay in Palm Coast,” DeMarco said, a goal that falls in line with the city’s Prosperity 2021 economic development plan.
In addition, with the start of adult coed basketball and volleyball kicking off this week, officials in Parks and Recreation must have been worried that the city’s toddlers felt left out. But now that concern has been erased, with the creation of the six-week Munchkin Sports program, in which 2- to 4-year-olds, will learn the basics of soccer, baseball, football, golf and tennis, beginning Jan. 28. The 10-11 a.m. classes will be held at the Palm Coast Community Center, with a program fee of $35. Call 986-2323.
