Karsyn Bembry was crowned 2011 Miss FPC on Wednesday, March 16.

Bembry, a third-generation Flagler County native, is no stranger to crowns. Her grandmother, Melba Bembry, was the first Miss Bunnell High School, in 1958.

In addition to the crown, Bembry was awarded with a $250 scholarship and complimentary entry into the 2011 Miss Florida pageant, in April.

Bembry is an active member of the FPC Key Club, Student Government Association and drama program, where she recently played the role of Scout in the play “To Kill a Mockingbird." (Click the link for a photo gallery of the play.)

The night's other winners were Danish Geffrard, first runner-up, and Jessica Cavalcanti, second runner-up and Miss Congeniality.

Nine girls competed in the competition, which featured four categories: personality costumes, talent, formal wear and questions.

David’s Bridal of Port Orange and Men’s Wearhouse, in Daytona Beach, donated formal wear for the pageant.

"The donation of gowns is so wonderful," said Cheryl Perry, student government sponsor. "It makes the pageant affordable to every girl."

Other participants were Breanna Gilliland, Alexandra Hoolehan, Shanique Roomes, Karen Salzar, Justina Hampton and Imani Thomas.
