Matanzas tennis sweeps St. Augustine

Matanzas boys and girls beat St. Augustine Feb. 15.

Matanzas High School swept St. Augustine in tennis Wednesday, Feb. 15, in a district matchup.

The boys team won the match, 6-1.

Nick Petrillo and Adam Hoke, the top two boys singles players, won their matches 8-0.

Fischer Harrington, the No. 3 player, won 8-1. Jose Cadre, the fifth singles player, won his match, 8-5.

Petrillo and Hoke won their doubles match, 8-1.

Harrington and Jorge Vazquez won their doubles match, 8-1.

The boys team improved to 2-0.

On the girls side, the Lady Pirates won as a team, 7-0.

No. 1 Lady Pirates player Dominic Davis won her match, 8-0. Brittney Haney, the No. 2 singles player, won. 8-1. Anna Pekarsky, the fifth singles player, won 8-5.

In doubles, Davis and Haney won 8-1, while Cece Ruddy and Rebekah Lam won their match, 8-3.

The girls team improved to 2-0.
