A man was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 8, after initially fleeing a deputy who was trying to conduct a traffic stop, according to a charging affidavit released by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy was trying to conduct a traffic stop of a suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Christopher Thomas White, of Palm Coast, at the intersection of Poinsettia Street and Canal Avenue in Bunnell. White — driving a white, four-door Infiniti sedan with a headlight out — sped away south on Poinsettia Avenue. The deputy lost the vehicle after White made a right turn eastbound on S.R. 100.

Another deputy located the vehicle near U.S. 1 and White View Parkway. The deputy followed White down Rolling Sands Drive before losing sight of him. Another deputy traveling on Ryan Drive observed a man — wearing a pair of black-and-blue Jordan shoes, blue board shorts and a black baseball cap — walking in between houses. That deputy eventually lost sight of the man.

Another deputy spotted a man wearing only dark blue underwear at Ryall Lane, where White lives.

His Jordan shoes, board shorts and baseball cap were found underneath a dog crate in his backyard.

Upon sight of law enforcement, White fled toward a drainage ditch and did not heed verbal commands to stop running. He continued to flee on foot toward a wooded lot at 14 Rymshaw Place. After deputies surrounded the lot, White tried to flee again. A deputy initially used a Taser to subdue White, but the probes disconnected. However, White was apprehended by a deputy who was on the other side of the wooded lot.

He was taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility without incident and charged with fleeing/eluding law enforcement and driving with a suspended license, among other charges.
