A 66-year-old Palm Coast man was arrested Monday, Dec. 20.
For the past eight months, Robert Lee Delattre was being watched. The 66-year-old Palm Coast resident drew the attention of not only the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, but also the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force. Delattre was arrested Monday, Dec. 20, for smuggling as much as $560,000 of marijuana at a time into Flagler.
According to the Sheriff’s Office report, Delattre did some traveling on his drug runs. Cpl. Steve Brandt said Delattre made trips to the Midwest on a quarterly basis, hauling 25 to 100 pounds of high-grade marijuana back home. It was sold for about $350 on the street.
Narcotics agents raided Delattre’s home, at 19 First Ave., shortly before 5 p.m Monday, and confiscated 57.5 pounds of marijuana — a street value of $322,000.
Another home near Delattre was also entered and 11 more pounds of marijuana were discovered. Additional arrests are pending.
“This investigation is ongoing,” Sheriff Donald Fleming said. “We are working on identifying more local suspects as well as working with other federal agencies to shut down the Midwest connection.”
Delattre was arrested on charges of trafficking cannabis, possession of an altered firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Agents found a shotgun, two long rifles, ammunition and a second shotgun with the serial number scratched off, in the home’s attic.
Delattre was being held in the Flagler County Inmate Facility on $85,000 bond.
