Corey Nichols, 34, of Palm Coast, had a criminal history of inhaling chemicals.

After a Palm Coast man was determined missing around 8:35 a.m. Saturday, his body was located in the woods along the west side of Walmart, on Cypress Point Parkway, according to officials.

Corey Nichols, 34, of Palm Coast, was found dead nearly 45 minutes after he was reported missing.

Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on scene most of Saturday morning. A press release Saturday night from the Sheriff’s Office suggested that Nichols’ death was accidental.

“There were no signs of trauma to the body, and the exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner,” Debra Johnson, spokeswoman for FCSO, said in an e-mail.

However, further investigations indicated accidental death by asphyxiation due to ingestion of chemicals.

Nichols has a criminal history of arrests and chemical inhalation issues, according to a search on the Sheriff’s Office website.

Nichols had two prior arrests on inhalation-of-dangerous-chemical charges in January 2010 and May 2010.

Also, in 2009, Nichols was jailed on three additional minor drug charges.
