A man was fatally shot on Parkview Drive early this morning, and Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies are questioning a person of interest.

“We are working every lead and attempting to locate the suspect or suspects,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a news release. “We do not believe there is a threat to anyone else at this time but this is an active investigation. We will update when we have more information.”

Deputies responded to a 911 call at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, about a person laying in the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Parkview Drive in Palm Coast.

The victim, whose name has not been released, died after rescuers took him to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Deputies do not believe the homicide was random.

They followed a car containing a man they believed might have some information about the crime, conducted a felony traffic stop and took the man in for questioning.

There was also a woman in the car: Deputies don't believe she was connected to the crime, a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.

That occurred at about 12:35 p.m.

The search, beginning shortly after deputies' arrival at the scene, caused deputies to divert school bus traffic on Parkview Drive, near Buddy Taylor Middle School and Wadsworth Elementary.

Sheriff Rick Staly came to the crime scene to help direct deputies, and a Crime Scene Investigation Unit is collecting evidence.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
