A male and female were recently arrested after allegedly shoplifting about $4,000-worth of merchandise from Palm Coast’s Walmart, according to a charging affidavit released by the Flagler County Sherrif’s Office.

A Walmart loss prevention agent told deputes Laura Stoia and Michael Sheets were involved in several instances of shoplifting at the store, which is located at 174 Cypress Point Parkway.

The first incident occurred on Dec. 5. The agent told deputies that he saw Stoia and Sheets — via security camera — walk out of the store with two computer tablets and a Samsung television, merchandise that totaled about $1,146.84.

The second recorded incident happened on Dec. 16. Another loss prevention agent observed Stoia and Sheets cutting security devices off of items and attempting to push carts full of items out of the store. The merchandise was worth about $923.69.

The final documented incident occurred on Dec. 18. Loss prevention agents were informed that two desktop computers were missing. A review of the security cameras helped them identify Stoia and Sheets. The merchandise was worth about $2131.34 in this instance.

Deputies attempted to make contact with Stoia and Sheets at 14 Lysander Place in Palm Coast, but a former friend of Stoia’s informed deputies that she was no longer staying there.

Sheets was later taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility on Jan. 26, and Stoia was taken on Feb. 9.
