Bunnell Police officers and Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Dollar General located at 1208 S. State St., according to a news release by the Bunnell Police Department.

A man, who was later identified as Gary Wayne Hodges, entered the business and approached the clerk at the checkout counter. Hodges held up a “large hunting knife” and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied with the demand, and Hodges then fled from the store with an unknown amount of money.

Law enforcement was able to identify Hodges and his vehicle by viewing the video from the store security cameras.

Hodges was eventually located by the Daytona Beach Police Department. Hodges, who later confessed to committing the robbery, was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“Our Bunnell Police officers and assisting Flagler County deputies did a great job working together to keep our neighborhoods safe,” Bunnell Interim City Manager Tom Foster said in a release.
