Man, 60, killed in crash on US 1 in northern Flagler County

The man's SUV struck a barrier, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 60-year-old man died in a single-car crash on U.S. 1 in northern Flagler County the afternoon of April 22.

The man, a St. Augustine resident, was driving south in an SUV on U.S. 1 just north of Matanzas Woods Parkway at about 2:45 p.m. when the vehicle "failed to negotiate a slight curve, for unknown reasons," according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The SUV crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a concrete barrier wall on the east side of the road, killing the driver. There were no other people in the vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation, according to the news release.
