Early Wednesday, Oct. 7, Kymora Christian, a 7-year-old Palm Coast girl, was hit by a car while waiting at the bus stop at Whippoorwill Drive and Winter Haven Court. The bus stop was the first on the route. The little girl was pronounced dead at the hospital, as confirmed from the Florida Highway Patrol.

As a part of standard operating procedure, there is currently a Crisis Response Team at Wadsworth Elementary School. The children who witnessed the traffic collision, and who are going through difficulty, have the opportunity to speak with a professional.

This was the third traffic incident involving children this year.

“They’re just unfortunate accidents from what I understand; this one being the most serious of them all,” Flagler Schools Information Specialist Jason Wheeler said. “There’s not really a common denominator between the three, other than children were involved.”

This story was updated at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 7 to include the name of the victim.
