I spoke with Kaiti Lenhart this afternoon on the phone. She's the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections, after Kimberle Weeks resigned amid controversy and federal investigation.
Lenhart said she is hoping to restore her office's relationship with the media. She'll be sending out press releases, but, even more importantly, she said she will be putting all the candidates' qualifying information on the website, flaglerelections.com, including the tax filings of candidates (with Social Security info, etc., redacted), should they decide to include the optional tax filings. That's never happened before, she said.
She expects next year to have a good turnout in 2016, considering it's a presidential race.
Why is she the supervisor now?
Lenhart was appointed by the governor in time for the April 7 special election, to replace Weeks. Referring to how she was appointed, she said, "The previous supervisor resigned three weeks before an election, and it created an emergency. You can’t have an election without a supervisor."
Lenhart, who is just 34 years old, said the special election was "a test run" in the governor's eyes, and it appears she passed the test. But, she added, "it was amaing how everyone came together and said, 'How can I help?' There was an outpouring of support from the county and other supervisors of elections. The county worked really well with me — just everyone."

She said she is planning to run for re-election as a Republican in 2016 and isn't aware of anyone else who has declared that they will run for her position.

On a personal note, Lenhart has a 3-year-old child and, on Monday, she is expecting her second. She doesn't know the gender yet; she wants it to be a surprise. She plans to be back in June.
