Judge William A. Parsons ruled Friday, April 1, to delay the fate of William Gregory, who is facing life in prison or the death penalty for two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm of Skyler Meekins and Daniel Dyer.

“(Parsons) wanted to review transcripts and other evidence before making his final decision,” said Shannon Peters, public information officer for the State Attorney’s Office.

Parsons did on Friday, however, sentence Gregory to life in prison with a 25-year minimum mandatory sentence for burglary while armed with a firearm. Also on Friday, Gregory was sentenced to 15 years in prison with a three-year minimum mandatory sentence for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and five years in prison for violation of probation for attempted possession of cocaine.

All of these sentences are concurrent sentences, according to the press release.
