Of 2,000 nominees, Flagler County Education Foundation was picked out of the hat — or the helmet, according to the foundation’s executive director, Nicole Brose.

Superstar racecar driver Jimmie Johnson selects 12 nonprofits per year and donates $10,000 to each, as well as featuring the logos on his helmet as part of his foundation’s Helmet of Hope campaign.

The Flagler County Education Foundation raises money to support Flagler schools.

Brose, who has been in her position for three years, has resigned as of June 30. A search committee is currently reviewing more than 70 applications to be her replacement.

“It was always my mindset that I was brought in to create a strong board and business contacts and rebrand the foundation, with a new logo, new marketing pieces, and basically give the foundation their legs so they can continue moving forward,” Brose said.

She will continue to live in Flagler County but will now work as the program and branch specialist for CIC Planning Group Inc., a small, boutique consulting firm based in Gainesville.

“We help districts and nonprofits create their strategic plans and understand what they need to do to grow and improve,” she said.

Brose will work with and train her replacement to make sure the work she has done in the last three years will continue its momentum.

She added that she would like to someday serve on the volunteer board of the foundation.
