Former Adult Ed teacher publishes AIDS memoir
Nancy Bevilaqua, former Flagler County Adult and Community Education teacher, recently published a book, “Holding Breath: A Memoir of AIDS' Wildfire Days.”

The book is an account of her relationships with one of her clients when she was a caseworker for people with AIDS in New York City in the late 1980s.

The memoir approaches the subject from a somewhat different perspective, offering a glimpse into what the disease was like at the time for people who had acquired it through intravenous drug use, as well as for people in the front lines of AIDS care. The book also deals with the subject of disenfranchised grief, which is often suffered by people who lose loved ones but feel they need to hide their grief.

Bevilaqua is a freelance writer whose articles have appeared in “National Geographic Traveler,” “Coastal Living,” the “South Florida Sun-Sentinel,” and several inflight magazines.

The book is available on Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle versions.
