As part of Florida Hospital’s “Change Your Life” free cardiovascular screening initiative, the hospital welcomed more than 50 local residents seeking not reactionary medicine, but proactive.
Patients were admitted to participate in the challenge, analyze their current health and protect against heart disease — one of the country’s leading causes of death. The day started at 6 a.m., Thursday, March 24, with a free, personalized, cardiac-risk baseline reports for participants ages 35 to 64.
“It is a new year, and I wanted to get healthier,” Linda Jarosz said. “I think this program will help me hold myself accountable to my goals and make me more successful."
From the screening results, the hospital outlined individual plans for participants to improve their heart functions. In six months, participants are invited back for a follow-up screening.
The hospital will host a second screening Wednesday, April 13, for people ages 35 to 64.
