The Hammock Beach 3.5 level team, anchored by Team Captain Jan Cullinane, won the Greater Volusia Tennis League for the 2010-11 season.

Hammock Beach has four total teams that compete in three different levels — 4.0 team, two 3.5 teams and a 3.0 team. The club is considering adding a 2.5 team for next season, which begins in the fall.

+ Pirates athletics win academic awards
According to Matanzas High School Athletics Director Ken Seybold, five Pirates sports teams earned academic honors by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

The teams are as follows:
Matanzas softball — ranked fourth in grade point average out of 114 schools in Class 4A softball.
Matanzas girls tennis — ranked ninth in GPA out of 126 schools in Class 2A girls tennis.
Matanzas girls track — ranked 18th in GPA out of 142 schools in Class 2A girls track.
Matanzas girls lacrosse — ranked 18th in GPA out of 81 schools in Class 1A girls lacrosse.
Matanzas girls flag football — ranked 13th in GPA out of 161 schools in Class 1A flag football.
