Four high-school bowlers earned scholarships, thanks to the Sherry Misrock Youth Bowling Scholarship Trust.

The Sherry Misrock Youth Bowling Scholarship Trust last month awarded four scholarships to Flagler County high school bowlers who will be attending college in the fall.

The two students from Flagler Palm Coast High School are Deetra Ware, who will attend Florida State University, and Joseph Marasa, who will be attending the Art Institute of Jacksonville.

From Matanzas, the students were Amber Willoughby, who will attend Daytona State College, and Antonio Palma, who will be attending Saint Leo University.

Additionally, the Sherry Misrock Trust gave grants to both Flagler Palm Coast and Matanzas high schools’ athletics departments to help both schools’ bowling teams next season.

Kim Saltmarsh, Matanzas’ bowling coach, said the money will help the team focus on bowling, rather than fundraising.

“It is heartwarming to know that the adults of our wonderful community continue to support high-school athletics,” Saltmarsh said. “It makes our bowlers feel great about themselves because there are people out there who care a lot about them and the sport they love — bowling.”
