All athletic events scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7, have been canceled, according to a release from Volusia County Schools.

The Flagler Palm Coast and Matanzas football teams had games scheduled Thursday night against Seabreeze and Spruce Creek, respectively. FPC’s game was to be played in Daytona Beach, and the Pirates’ game was supposed to be played in Port Orange. Both games were originally scheduled for 7 p.m. kickoffs.

Bulldogs coach Travis Roland said the team is trying to make up the game during its bye week on Nov. 3. Matanzas, which had a bye in Week 2 of the season, may not be able to make up its game, according to Pirates coach Robert Ripley.

“When you lose a game, it’s never a fun process,” Roland said. “We’re going to try to do our best to make it up.”
