A Leon County circuit judge has imposed judgements totaling almost $129,600, plus interest, against former Flagler County Supervisor of Elections Kimberle Weeks for filing false complaints against county officials.
Weeks is to pay $60,682.40 plus prejudgement interest of $12,288.15 for false complaints against Flagler County Attorney Al Hadeed, plus $68,888.11 and prejudgement interest totaling $13,949.80 for false complaints against former Flagler County Commissioner Charlie Ericksen. Interest will accumulate at 6.83% until it's paid.
The county government had pursued Weeks — along with two other individuals who'd made false Ethics Commission and Elections Commission complaints against county officials in 2014 — for attorneys' fees after administrative law judges found their complaints frivolous or maliciously false.
The other two complainants were former County Commission candidate Dennis McDonald and Mark Richter Jr., the son of former Flagler County Commission candidate Mark Richter. Judgements had already been entered against both by the time Weeks' judgement was entered at an April 8 court hearing.
Weeks on April 5 — three days before the hearing — offered the county a $20,000 settlement, but the County Commission rejected that offer while leaving open the possibility of negotiating a settlement with all three of the former complainants once Weeks' final judgment was entered.
