If you woke up to find an American flag at your mailbox on veterans Day, nov. 11, you can thank Amanda Mazzie, president of CHAmPS.

The 7,500 flags were sold to raise funds for emergency weather-alert radios — a cause she has championed since 2007 when a family she knew was killed by a tornado. For more on CHAmPS, call 586-3149.
